I Broke My Record

I left everything to the last minute yesterday which really isn't like me.  In one whirlwind shopping spree, I had all of my shopping done in 3 hours and got my hair cut.  Once home I put on Christmas music and wrapped everything until I was done.  Total time 4 hours.  This morning I realized that I has everything done and could just relax.  So, I'm squeezing in a Christmas Eve post and then I'm off to watch Christmas video's.

Well it's finally here...

Took me awhile but I finally got moving on my Christmas activities.  Haven't even starting shopping yet but at least the tree is up and the house decorated.  After tomorrow I'm starting two weeks of holidays and I so need that time to get organized and to relax.

I thought I would share with you the Murino Glass Santa ornament that I purchased in Venice this year.  Every year we had a Coca Cola Santa ornament that we got when we were kids and we'd put it on the tree.  The lights couldn't go on until Santa was there.  We seemed to have misplaced him in the many moves we've had before my parents died so spotting this little guy in Venice seemed appropriate.

If I don't get a chance .... Merry Christmas to all.

Where is my Christmas Spirit?

I just can't seem to get into it this year.  We've missed it the past few years because of deaths and health issues but for the life of me I just can't seem to motivate myself to decorate, shop, bake and do all the traditional Christmas activities.  Time for more motivation.

Now to work .... ok after my morning tea.

It's December Already

Only a few more weeks until Christmas and I'm no where near ready to even think about it.  I'm surrounded by Christmas movies, commercials, store displays and Christmas lights all around... but I can't get in the mood.  We're pulling a "Krank" Christmas this year and skipping it since we spent so much money this year and the car is on it's last legs.  Still we should plan something so it's time for some Christmas season inspiration.

Time for some inspiration...

Confined indoors today because of a bug, I decided to take this time to update my poorly neglected blog and look for some inspiration for a fresh renewal for my soul.

A Winter Wonderland

This past week someone at work pointed out when I whined about needing a vacation that I only had a month to go and I was off for the rest of the year.  I'm taking an extra long holiday this year as I've been pushing myself for far too long.  No plans - just relax.  However, I'm not there yet and my son has being going on about decorating early this year.  But doesn't seem interested when I point out we need to go and get a tree and new lights.  Then he puts it off for another weekend.  At this rate, we may not decorate at all.  Today though we're going to be busy digging out from all the snow we accumulated this week.

Have a great weekend everyone.

This would go beautifully with the black turtleneck and outfit below.

Black and Camel

My two favourite colours for my fall wardrobe.  I'm on the lookout for a new bag this fall as my old one is starting to look a bit worn.  Then I spotted these and now I'm trying to decide which I prefer and if I want to splurge or find something similar in a cheaper version.  I can be really rough on my purses as I use them every day for months on end, drag them everywhere with me and while I love purses I find it difficult to purchase one.  Once I find one that works for me I use it until it's falling apart.  I need a roomy purse as I lug a lot around with me but not one so big that I'll loose anything I put into it.

I like the style of the top one, but it might be a bit too small for me.  However the draw string top on the bottom one may not work for me either.  I'll keep looking I guess.

Happy Halloween

Since my son is no longer little and our neighbourhood has only one or two small children, we're boycotting Halloween this year.  It's never been my favourite holiday anyway and my son is more of a Christmas nut.  He's loves everything about the Christmas season - so we decorate for that.  These pumpkins are the closest I will come to decorating for Halloween this year.

Good-Bye Oscar

I was sorry to hear about the death of Oscar de la Renta.  One of my all time favourite designers and from all appearances a genuinely talented, sophisticated gentlemen.  I like this style.  Without going overly flamboyant and over the top, his style always maintained a sense of dignity and that is something that I not only admire but must admit is very hard to maintain. My heart goes out to his widow and to those who knew him so well.  The lovely hand written letter on the home of page   http://www.oscardelarenta.com/ says it all.

Thanksgiving 2014

I love fall.  It's not so muggy hot and of course the changing colours of the leaves are a free art show in themselves.  Every year for many years when we were kids, we went away this weekend to look at the leaves.  As a result we've been all over the Eastern United States and Canada as well.  It was one of those family bonding moments.  I wanted to continue this tradition with my son now that my parents are gone.  However, I didn't take into account that my son might not feel the same way.  He's a big fan of Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings - not to mention Sunday afternoon football.  In other words despite the fact that there is only two of us.  I find myself out buying a turkey and everything else.  My wanderlust at this time of year appears to have skipped him.  He'd rather snuggle up at home on this long weekend and apparently wasn't keen on the prospect of sitting in a car for long hours with his mother looking at leaves.  So once more I'm searching for Thanksgiving recipes and wondering what I'll do with all the left overs.  The fridge and freezers are stocked and the dog is following me around drooling and looking forward to my hours in the kitchen.  The leaves will have to do without me this year.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

What a closet - three stories high

This is an addition to the post below....

This house and closet are on the market for $12 million so get your cheque books ready.  Sorry - I don't think the closet contents go with it.  I'm adding a few more images of the closet and house.  Something I didn't realize before - there's a champagne bar in the closet - this woman thinks of everything.

Rear Exterior of the house

Dream pool

Dream BBQ pit and bar

Dream cabana

OK - now for the killer closet.

Can you imagine - one shelf just for your Chanel purchases?

The champagne bar and stools for entertaining in your closet.

Staircase looking down

Fruit anyone?

Love the way this is displayed like a store display - and that tub in the background.  Decadent.

The view looking up.

A view I didn't see before.

The remaining images are part of the original post.

Ok so this is one of my many weaknesses.  A really organized closet - but even I wouldn't dare to dream this high.  I could shop this closet for a month and probably still not see everything.  It's so organized and there is every colour scheme imaginable.  The closet is owned by Theresa Roemer from Texas.  When they say they like everything big in Texas - they aren't kidding.

A clear love of Hermes stands out in this wardrobe.
